The Family Advisory Council brings together family members, guardians, and caregivers to share their experiences, provide meaningful feedback, and help shape the future of our services.
By joining the Council, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with our leadership team, influence quality improvement efforts, and ensure the voices of families are reflected in the decisions we make.
Our Purpose
The Family Advisory Council serves as a collaborative partnership between Opportunities, Inc. and the families of the people we support. Together, we work to strengthen services, improve communication, and promote meaningful inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Council provides recommendations and feedback on:
- Programs and services
- Service delivery and accessibility
- Policies and procedures
- Quality improvement initiatives
- Person-centered practices
- Communication with families
- Strategies to increase equity and access
What We Do
Explore the ways council members help Opportunities, Inc.
Providing guidance on programs and policies
to improve safety, accessibility, inclusion, and service quality.
Partnering in quality improvement
by reviewing information, identifying priorities, and helping develop solutions.
Strengthening communication
between Opportunities, Inc., people receiving services, and their families.
Promoting person-centered practices
that honor each person's choices, independence, and goals while recognizing families as valued partners.
Identifying barriers to access
and recommending ways to improve equity for families of all backgrounds.
Creating opportunities for feedback
so family perspectives are heard & acted upon.
Helping develop resources
such as guides, trainings, FAQs, and educational materials that support families.
