As We Close Out the Fiscal Year: A Year of Impact, Growth, and Opportunity
As we close out another fiscal year, we are taking a moment to reflect on everything we have accomplished together over the past 12 months.
Every milestone is more than a number. Instead, it represents people finding new opportunities, building independence, making meaningful connections, and taking part in their communities.
It also shows the dedication of our staff, the trust of the families we serve, the support of our community partners, and the generosity of those who believe in our mission.
Together, we have continued creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties.
A Year of Impact
Over the past year, Opportunities, Inc. proudly achieved:
💙 320 People Supported
Every person has unique goals, strengths, and dreams. Through person-centered services, we supported 320 people as they worked toward greater independence, employment, community inclusion, and meaningful daily experiences.
Because each person’s path is different, our services focus on personal goals, choice, and support.
💙 75 Dedicated Team Members
Behind every success story is a caring team committed to making a difference. Each day, our staff bring skill, creativity, and heart to the work they do.
As a result, the people we support receive care that is both thoughtful and person-centered.
💙 54 People Employed
Employment creates opportunities for independence, confidence, and purpose. In addition, it helps people take part in their communities in meaningful ways.
Through our Employment Services, 54 people secured meaningful jobs and continued building successful careers.
💙 24 Community Volunteer Partners
Strong partnerships help build stronger communities. This year, 24 volunteer partners welcomed the people we support into meaningful volunteer opportunities.
Because of these partnerships, people developed skills, built relationships, and gave back to their communities.
💙 755 Trips on Public Transportation Through Our Route Ready Program
Transportation is often the key to employment, community participation, and independence.
Through our Route Ready Travel Training program, we provided 755 one-way travel training sessions. As a result, people gained the confidence and skills needed to safely use public transportation and access more opportunities.

💙 153 Person-Centered Plans Completed
Every Person-Centered Plan begins with listening.
Together with the people we support, families, and support teams, we completed 153 individualized plans. Each plan focused on personal goals, strengths, and meaningful outcomes.
Because of this planning process, people have clearer paths toward the goals that matter most to them.
💙 56 Vehicles Keeping Communities Connected
Our transportation fleet helps connect people to jobs, volunteer opportunities, medical appointments, community activities, and daily experiences.
Most importantly, these vehicles help support independence and inclusion.
💙 Serving Two Maryland Counties
Opportunities, Inc. serves Prince George’s County and Montgomery County through licensed locations.
Because of this, we can provide person-centered services close to home and help people reach their goals within their own communities.
💙 Welcoming New People to Opportunities
This year, we welcomed four new admissions. As a result, we were able to support more people and families throughout our communities.
In turn, more people gained access to services that support growth, choice, and independence.
💙Growing Our Team
To continue meeting community needs, we hosted four hiring events this year.
These events helped us connect with caring professionals who share our commitment to inclusion, respect, and person-centered support.
Because our team continues to grow, we can keep strengthening the services we provide.
Countless Community-Based Experiences
Some of our greatest accomplishments cannot be measured by numbers alone.
Throughout the year, the people we support explored new places, volunteered with community groups, built friendships, joined recreation and learning activities, practiced speaking up for themselves, gained work experience, and discovered new opportunities for growth.
These daily experiences help build confidence and belonging. They also help create more inclusive communities for everyone.
Looking Ahead
As we begin a new fiscal year, we remain committed to our mission. We will continue empowering people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, self-directed, and inclusive lives.
In the year ahead, we will keep investing in strong programs, building community partnerships, expanding employment opportunities, and supporting greater independence.
Above all, we will continue making sure every person we support has the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to thrive.
